Ensembles:

Big Brass - A Tuba-Euphonium Jazz Nonet
This is a new jazz ensemble based in Manchester. This band is composed of a tenor horn, two euphoniums, three tubas, piano and drums and is the only one of its kind in Manchester and probably in the country. Its sound is very unusual. The combination of the mellow colour of the euphonium and the warm low tone of the tuba create a very mesmerizing ambience. We believe this formation will bring something new and appealing to the ears of many and will introduce a new view on these instruments which are often only associated with use in brass bands.
