General Details:
The fundamental tuition will be based on the basic technique of the instrument: breathing, flexibility, range, valve technique and sound quality. However, teaching methods will be adapted to suit each individual's special needs.
Students of all abilities are welcome, from beginner to advanced. If desired, students will progress through graded music exams (ABRSM, TCL, etc.) and where applicable for younger students, guidance will be given in the performance aspects of GCSE and A-level music exams.
Lessons will be given at the student's house, unless other suitable accommodation can be provided, therefore travel expenses may be required depending on the location. Generally speaking, no travel expenses are required for lessons taking place in the city of Manchester, but a charge of £2 will be required for every 10 miles outside of Manchester. This can be negotiated with the student or the student's parent/guardian.
It is assumed students will already be in possession of an instrument before undertaking lessons. Many primary and secondary state schools provide instruments, but students are strongly advised to invest in their own instrument. Guidence will of course be provided in this area to enable the student to find the most suitable instrument.
